...Seeing him on the Motown 25th Anniversary special, performing with his brothers. And then they left him on the stage, and the first beats of "Billie Jean" were heard. He popped and snapped, threw the hat into the audience, and left me speechless. I was floored when he did the moon walk.
...getting the "Thriller" cassette, and playing it so many times until the tape broke, and I repaired it with a thin strip of masking tape.
...watching the "Beat It" and "Thriller" videos on MTV every chance I could, practicing the choreography until I had it perfect.
...yelling and screaming when he won so many Grammy awards.
...starting a neighborhood Michael Jackson fan club, comprised of only two members.
...planning to become Mrs. Michael Jackson when I was 11 years old.
So many more things I remember about the singer, dancer, entertainer...positive things. I'll leave the media to focus on the negative; I can't bring myself to do it. I won't.
One of the largest icons of my childhood is gone, and I'm so very, very sad.
Michael, Michael, Michael...my prayers go out to his children and the rest of his family.

*pointing to the Links section* Most of what I follow online are webcomics. But this one, a recent discovery, is rapidly becoming my all-time favorite. If you're into comics, and don't mind the fantasy/horror type, then I strongly recommend you check out Bayou. Jeremy Love and Patrick Morgan are doing a fabulous job with this story. ^_^
Shown during a team building session last Friday on improving communications (especially the listening part):
There was at least one person who missed the point of it (focusing on a word instead of the content and context) was offended by it (and the presentation, overall). Me? I cracked up at the end.
Truly, listening is an art. ;-)

The film I'm watching? "Conan the Barbarian." Why? Because I liked it (and was fairly freaked out by it) when I was kid, especially when Thulsa Doom transformed into a snake, And because the musical score is pretty awesome. (This is one of the three Arnold movies I admit to enjoying, the other two being "Predator" and "The Terminator". ^_^)
Other guilty pleasure movies which I also saw as a kid and will stop whatever I'm doing to watch on TV (and would love to add to my DVD collection :-)) are "Big Trouble in Little China", "The Never Ending Story", and "Clash of the Titans". Sure, they're not deep thought-provoking, life-transforming movies. They have cheesy moments, in particular "Big Trouble". But they still rock, twenty years later.
Question: What are your 'gotta love 'em' films, and why? :-)

Yes, I'm way behind on the series, having only heard of it a few weeks ago, but after finishing A Game of Thrones? Yeah, I'm hooked, there's no denying it. ;-) Martin's got writing skills, no doubt.
Amen for payday tomorrow, so I can buy the 2nd book in the series. ;-) Does anyone else follow A Song of Fire and Ice?

...and I liked. ^_^ Not a cinematic feat, but still I was entertained (and cringing in several spots, but not in a bad way). Now, what I'd really like to see is a GOOD X-Men Origins: Storm film. She's one of the most powerful mutants, but was completely punked out in the films, imho. Any writer with the cajones could do some solid work with the Shadow King storyline (and maybe possibly introduce Black Panther? ^_^) I think Zoe Saldana would make a GREAT younger Storm. :-)
